Why did you say yes to this campaign? What was your WHY to participate?

I have been through big changes in my life over the last 10 years. I have found myself living a very different life to the one I envisaged. At times it has been a little scary and at times it’s made me realise my own strength and resilience. I have also gone through a roller coaster of emotions and feelings about myself and on reflection I see that I have been hard on myself and I have had to do a bit of work on myself to love myself. I decided I wanted to take part in this campaign because I deserve it! I wanted to do this for me, to feel pampered, and to look beautiful and feel glamorous.

Tell me a little about you and your story:

I am 50 years old and I have 3 children, Ria is 27, Niall is 26 and Ella is 22. My two girls are living in Canada and my son is living in Dublin. I miss the girls very much and it’s hard having your children living so far away but I’m very proud of the lives they are all living and the fact that they are following their dreams. I have two fur babies at home to keep me busy. I work full time as a special needs assistant.

What do you see when you look in the mirror?

I see a lady who has finally started to love herself for the kind, happy, loving person she is. I have a little bit of self doubt at times but I check in with myself and remind myself how lucky I am to be living the life I have.

Describe yourself in 3 words:

Happy, strong, caring.

Do you feel like you have changed since turning 50?

I appreciate everything a lot more.

What are the most rewarding things about getting older?

Being healthy.

What has been the best life lesson you have learned along the way?

The most important thing is to enjoy your life. To be happy.

What advice would you give to your younger self about caring for yourself?

Not to be so hard on yourself.

What is your favourite quote?

We must let go of the life we had planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us…. Joseph Campbell

What do you love most about your new portraits? Is there something new you discovered about yourself?

I feel very fortunate that I had the opportunity to be photographed by Olga.
I love the femininity  and beauty in myself that  I see in myself when I look at the photos.
I feel my personality shines through and that Olga captured the essence of me.

What was your favourite part of working with me?

The whole experience of working with Olga was a privilege.  I was very nervous as I hadn’t done anything like this before and I thought maybe I was being a bit self indulgent?
Olga was encouraging, supportive and fun and made me feel welcomed and relaxed.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I would encourage anyone to spoil themselves. Thank you so much for the experience Olga and for capturing me at 50.
