Why did you say yes to this campaign? What was your WHY to participate?
I’d always wanted to get proper headshots done, a mix of professional and personal shots. I saw Olga’s work and knew immediately I wanted to work with her.
Tell me a little about you and your story:
You’ll just have to buy the book! I’ve taken the scenic route in life with relationships, jobs and health. I wanted to show that no matter what, keep smiling and stay positive.
What do you see when you look in the mirror?
I now see a woman I love, too long I despised her and spent too much energy on self criticism and doubt. I see a survivor looking back and I like her!
Describe yourself in 3 words
Content, grateful, present.
Do you feel like you have changed since turning 50?
Yes, turning 50 in the height of covid and lockdowns was actually ok. No big pressure to have a party. Finally acknowledged and accepted my introvert side.
What are the most rewarding things about getting older?
Wisdom, free to be authentic.
What has been the best life lesson you have learned along the way?
Acceptance is huge. Apply the words “right now” to the end of a sentence if you’re describing challenging times. It always always gets better.
What advice would you give to your younger self about caring for yourself?
Please please be kinder to yourself. Choose friends wisely. They will be your rocks as time goes on.
What is your favourite quote?
It’s not happening to me, it’s happening for me.
What do you love most about your new portraits? Is there something new you discovered about yourself?
Seeing myself and liking myself.
What was your favourite part of working with me?
How you put me at ease in every aspect. Your creativity and how you “see” and show your subject.
